Barber Ranch
Description:
Ranch Location: Sixty miles north of Amarillo, nine miles northeast of Channing on FM roads 722 and 3138. Barber Ranch has produced bull, heifer and steer champions at every major show in Texas, where every year there has been a Barber Ranch Hereford in the champion spot. We have also been fortunate enough to produce many champions shown at the Junior Nationals, Denver and other major show events.

Norman Krieg established Krieg Herefords in 1959. With the average age of a purebred operation being seven years we're proud that 2003 is our forty-fourth. We presently operate 14,000 acres all located in Concho County. The majority is leased land with one ranch being in our operation for thirty-one years and another for twenty-five years. This is short grass country characterized by strong native grasses and frequent, extended droughts. We are a grass based, least cost operation. We do not feed hay or fertilize.

Located near Gettysburg PA, we are Registered Hereford cow/calf farm. Cattle are offered at private treaty and we also have an annual production sale the first Saturday in October, called the Breeders Classic.

We started our Registered Hereford herd in 1994 with the purchase of ten registered horned cows. We've grown by buying at production sales and private treaty, and by keeping only the best females for our replacements. We now run 50 registered cows and 20 recip cows.
